I just bought a '87 celebrity (2.5l 4cyl TBI and a DIS) starts up just fine (exhaust smells slightly rich, but that's fine right?) then when it warms up a bit it starts to idle slightly erratically. A few days ago I tried to drive it to work but on the way to there it seemed to miss accompanied by a PFFSHH sound. I ignored it at the moment which was a mistake because when I tried to get onto the highway the car surged on acceleration, missed, and then stalled. When I tried to crank the engine on the side of the highway it cranked but no start. my dad drove to where i broke down and held the key for about 10-15 seconds before it started but it ran TERRIBLY and stalled when i tried to put it in gear.
Previous owners have replaced Coils, plug wires, and the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold.
I have replaced a broken brake hose, the belt tensioner assembly, air cleaner, temperature sender(dashboard, wrong one I need to replace), and refilled the coolant.
What could be causing this?

Many things can cause this, bad injector flooding the engine, bad o2 sensor, low fuel pressure, are just a few. You need to get this to a shop. Blocked exhaust. Why was the coolant low, or just a top off?

Can't get it to a shop, too far. Engine dies before I get a 1/4th of a way there. The belt tensioner assembly goes over a open circle in the engine block coolant channel so when I replaced it all the Coolant in it poured out, so naturally I had to replace it.
But I will probably have to check the injector or catalytic converter next then. /:

Need 2 people for this, when it dies do you have spark to the plugs, are the injectors spraying when cranking?

Haven't been able to reproduce the stall from a week ago, but I noticed when it gets warmed up it misses when given a little throttle and when I pulled into my parking spot at home (went on a drive around the neighborhood) it stalled out, injector was spraying fuel just fine after but i didn't check the spark plugs.
Another thing, whenever i took off the air cleaner top a bunch of white smoke came out of the throttle body.
