UPDATE, Thanks guys. Just the information I was needing.


Got a 65 with drum all the way around. Do I use DOT 3 or do I need to go to DOT 2 fluid? I did a search but couldn't find the answer.

Agreed. I didn't even think DOT 2 was still a thing. That's a mineral oil based fluid that is absolutely not compatible with DOT 3 or DOT 4 which are glycol based. Go with the DOT 3 or DOT 4, which are compatible with each other though DOT 4 has a slightly higher boiling point.

And whatever you do, keep it away from your painted surfaces; it'll damage paint quickly.

i use dot 5 silicone fluid in hopes it wont corrode as easy. not for use in anti lock brakes.

70 L camino, grampa engine, g-force 5 spd, road rage suspension. Pray first before all else fails.

Only issue with dot 5 is the entire brake system must be free of dot 3 or 4, 5 cannot mix. We only use 5 in our shop with a new system installed
