No performance upgrade that would remain streetable can approach a mild 350, higher compression pistons, a cam upgrade, dual plane intake, 600 cfm carb, good ignition, all will help, but the small valve small port heads are the limiting factor. Of course you need to have solid engine to start with. Remember the 305 small bore precludes any cylinder head with bigger intakes.

decode the stamped number on the front of the block. casting number on the rear may help. its unlikely you will only replace valve seals and get away with it. it probly needs guides and maybe valves. dont expect any big gains in power. i would check the cam to see if its any good. i dont think any other heads will bolt on to it but i would research this. i would port the heads to get everything all nice and flowing well. i would also measure quench and get it tight. cut the heads to get more compression too. also consider running gear. shorter and or narrower tires will give a performance boost form reduced drag.
