Used to paint years ago but since I'm not current on primers I have a question. I have a car that is mostly sanded down to factor primer and a small section that is bare metal. The factory primer is good with no issues. The question is a 2K primer or something else. The guy just wants the car primed in a gray color and intends on driving it for a few months before sending it to a regular paint/body shop. We live in a very dry climate so humidity is not an issue here. Can I get some suggestions?

As a general rule. Self etching primer is DTM. A 2k sealer is required for maximum adhesion prior to filler or top coat.
2K Epoxy has superior adhesion to DTM or properly sanded finishes. And only needs scuffed/sanded prior to filler or top coat. Requiring one less step. The only real drawback to 2k epoxy is that if left out in the sunlight, it will eventually fade from UV rays. Requiring a re-scuff and re-coat prior to top coat.
