Hi everyone,

I recently was restoring my original rad and when i was removing the fittings for the trans cooler lines i noticed there was a hard fiber washer ? did GM use these as sealing washers ? I would like to keep things as original as possible. Thanks in advance

I am inclined to believe that it was added by someone who had no idea of what they were doing. In all my years of experience, I have never seen such a thing as a "washer" to seal the transmission cooling tube. I have seen some people use Teflon wrap, which is also incorrect.

Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
