My 59 Biscayne has holes where the dome light switches would go on higher level cars. I am wondering if there were some kind of delete plugs or just left open.

Learned a bit of Chevy trivia today. Didn’t know the Biscayne models came without a dome light.

A little more trivia. My Yeoman has a dome light that has a switch on the ceiling fixture. There are no switches in the door jambs.

Interesting. But that begs another trivia question:
From the original post here, I assumed the Biscayne model did not get a dome light. But maybe it did get a light, just no door switches?
More trivia: my higher model wagon does have door switches, but the light fixture also has that switch on it. I assume that switch was unique to station wagon & SDL, so the light could be turned on from the cargo bay. That dome light bezel with a built-in switch is a rare piece, has never been reproduced.

I have a spare dome light bezel with built in switch if anyone needs one.

I had an Oakland Calif produced '59 Biscayne and it had a dome light. I always thought it was standard, and not an option (if that aspect even existed) for the Biscayne model.

Mine does have a dome light, the only way to turn it on is the head light switch no door switches.

Yes 59 Biscayne had the holes in the jambs but no door switches. 58 Delray and Yeoman had no holes in the jambs for door switches.
Some models also had the extra switch in the bezel to turn them off and on. The dome light also took a special bulb with the ground in the prong, not the base #1004.

Thanks for the photo, Jens.
Photo shows I was wrong to say "bezel with built-in switch". Switch is built into the fixture base, and the bezel has a slot for it. So if someone wants one, they will need to find both pieces.

Jens shows another group of parts someone is asking about. How many cars have you parted out?

So I'm just going to deduce that there were no plugs in the switch holes from the factory.

That would be correct Dave. No factory plugs in the holes.
Here’s a picture of a one owner all original 59 Biscayne.

It just amazes me how when someone has a question about something, you are able to show the parts. You have a good storage system to be able to find the parts.
