my 72 elcamino ss454 engine has a mild cam, the larger valves and 10.0 compression. it is otherwise stock. it has the turbo 400 transmisson with 3.55 rear gear
. i had to replace the torque converter when i rebuild the engine due to the guide where the torque converter goes into the crank being broken. i replaced it with a stock converter since i thought that is what i had. anyway, this converter broke within a couple of hundred miles. i was told it had a stall of 1450rpm, which i think was about right. i think my cam would like a stall of around 2000rpm since i currently have to idle the engine at 1100 to 1200 rpm to keep it running in gear with the ac on.
i would like you'alls recommendations as to brand, stall etc.
any thought would be appreciated.

Actual cam specs would help any advice here.

I would suggest 2,000 stall converter would do the job.

for a bit more yank from a dead stop i would get a bit more than 2000. depends on your driving needs.

i'm thinking between 2000 and 2400 stall. don't want too much since i like to cruise and it has a 3.55 rear gear and no overdrive.
anyone have suggestions as to what brand to get?
