Can any one tell me where to find the lenght of the cable under the car at midpoint, the one that hooks to the rear cables from the backing plates and hooks to the u-shaped adjuster with the bolt through it. Mine came apart and I can't tell if it snapped or just pulled out of the end retainer. I repaired the end and even unadjusted the cable is too short,

Hi, just saw this. As far as I know, the rear cable from the brake drums is one piece joining both sides. Then a threaded eye bolt to connect to equalizer bar. That connects with the cable from the hand brake assembly. If someone modified the system in the past, you may have to modify yours to function better.
