Hello everyone - I haven't posted here in many years. I(still) have a 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster Townsedan nearly 100% original with about 56K. A beautiful survivor I've owned since '02. Recently I noticed a scrape scrape scrape noise (not a constant grind) when turning left. I thought "wheel bearings" so I replaced them. No change. Even swapped sides with the front drums. Still no bueno.
I'm beginning to fear a problem in the torque tube.
It scrapes pretty good with even the slightest left turn of the steering wheel at road speed. Can't really hear it when going very slowly. Absolutely NO noise on a right turn or straight driving.
Any thoughts on where/what to look for or how to diagnose the problem before I start tearing things apart?
I'm not sure where to start...
Any constructive ideas are welcome.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
