Yo Tom!
I’m still here. Outside of rejetting the carb and changing the carpet color in the near future. It’s been pretty much done since last fall. Finished up the Saturn Sky. Also started building a turbo engine for the Corvair. Then got tired of the 57 looking at me with those puppy dog eyes. And decided to get the 235 stove bolt running again after a 14 year hiatus. Just put in a new fuel tank and rebuilt the carb and also put a new radiator in it. The new tires should be here tomorrow. Btw.. It’s the first car I ever painted waaaaay back in 1979. So far she’s still holding up after 45 years. How’s things on your side of the fence?

If I had, or were going to build another 6cyl Chevy, it would get a 261 truck engine, bored/stroked to 283 and a 4sp. Back in the 60s, my first serious engine build was a 261 with the Corvette 3 carbs and Corvette dual exhaust manifold.
Kick myself every day for getting rid of the setup, but I just HAD TO HAVE a V8.
My cousin has a 1st series 55 pickup with a 261/283, Saginaw 4sp and a 64 Chevy 3.08 posi I built for him. GREAT TRUCK!!!
Of course, these days my dedication is the plane.
That's me waving at you.

Yes Tom… the 261 would have been the stovebolt weapon of choice!
Actually.. the 235 in the 57, was the original engine that came out of the 58 wagon. Bored .060 over with solids and rebuilt back in the day at the machine shop with 10,000 miles on it now.
That’s back when you could buy two 57s for $400 a pair and make one good one with plenty of left over parts.
Btw.. nice job on the A-26. You guys really knocked yourselves out on the restoration!
