Hi, I have a question on the temperature gauge on a C20 pickup with a 350. I recently had the radiator repaired and after I reinstalled it the gauge does not work. I put everything back as it should be, what controls the gauge? Thanks, Albert

Albert, the gauge is probably electric and is likely controlled by a single wire from the temperature sensor on the engine. Ensure that wire is correctly connected to the sensor.

If I recall correctly my memory is excellent. My ability to access it is not. |

Assuming it’s a 78 from your SN, the sender is on the drivers side head. It will be between #1 and #3 plugs. The wire is most likely green.
Ground the wire with ignition in the ON position, truck not running. The gauge should peg HOT on the gauge with the wire grounded. If it does change sender. If not you have s bad gauge or wiring problem.

fritz1990 is correct. My truck has a green wire to the sensor. Mine also uses another temp sensor in the right head. It controls the dual cooling fans.

Boy, do I feel dumb. I finally had time to look at it and the wire was disconnected :shifty :
I cleaned it up and now the gauge is working.
Thank you for your help, now on to the fuel gauge.
Albert
