anyof you still running R12in your ac system? Mine is still stock and the conversion to R134a is s a real hassel. Looking for a source of R12.Thanks

GOOOGLE R12 refrigerant, it looks like there are alternatives available like R24 and several others where you don't need to change anything.
No clue how good they are, but it would appear that there are at least a few options.

yes, I have seen them but I'm not sure either about their effectiveness. I have found several sources for R12 since my prior post. Sevearl options on local Craigslist also.

Hi , you can put Duracool 12 A ( from multitanks), or equivalent , it fits fine with any modification
Believe me , I've use it for several years , no problem , and it' s better for the planet !!

I had never heard of R24. It seems that's a short name for R426A. I initially looked when I saw the topic but I cannot find the link which showed what it's a blend of.
R12a is a mix of R290 (refrigerant grade propane) and Isobutane (R600a)

Ah, yes, good old propane, wonderful refrigerant as is ammonia.
Both were discontinued when much safer freon came along that didn't burn, or kill you if it leaked.
Speaking of which, if you haven't heard, the EPA has outlawed any freon type substance in new residential AC units starting in 2025, so they will be back to using propane, but with the added 'feature" of making the AC units costing a lot more because of propane leak detectors and isolation valves, etc, to make the propane less likely to burn someones house down.
