Dug out a couple spare rear differentials the other day. One has pretty rusty gears but turns over after I gave it some penatrating oil and WD40.

What;s the best way to clean the rusty gear teeth?

Thanks.
Stanley

if they are that rusty they have stress risers that will make them weak. also the more rusted areas will change wear pattern. i would probly not recommend using them.

70 L camino, grampa engine, g-force 5 spd, road rage suspension. Pray first before all else fails.

A picture with good detail might shed some light on an accurate answer.

hi Nick P and Thank You Both for taking some time to reply.

The long and the short of my rust problem was a product from CRC called Evapo-Rust.
It works very well.

Thanks.
Stanley
