Most of you guys know I follow Martin Truex in the cup series. Yesterday with just few laps left (on a yellow flag), the whole lead lap cars came in for a final pit stop.

Martin is running 3rd at this point.

9 out of 10 of the top 10 cars get a splash of fuel and 2 tires. 5 second stops.

Martin's team gives him 4 tires. 10 second stop!!!

He comes out in 10th position....on a green/white checkered flag (which means only 2 laps to go).

Naturally, he can't compete with the time loss of a 4 tire change.

What was his crew chief thinking?

My boy Larsen won by .001 second. Felt bad for Buescher.

I was rooting for Larson too. He's my other driver I follow. And Reddick is another one with grit and determination.

So Truex did gain 6 spots in 2 laps (to finish 4th) but I was very confused as to why they would take 4 tires with only 2 laps to go...

still waiting to find a post race interview with him or his crew chief...

Maybe they'll cover it one day this week on Racehub.

And, it was pretty clear to me that Buescher lost himself that race to Larson when he failed to block his air at that last turn, and left Larson a bunch of room against the wall to go around him.

Great race! I was happy for anyone to win EXCEPT Hamlin, lol. Thank God that Busch spun. I hated the fact the top 2 or 3 were saving so much fuel and going sooo slow at the end there. It was going to be between Hamlin & Truex, if the caution did not come out. I don't think Truex would have won if he took only 2 tires.
I was hoping Buescher would have won.
But I'm glad Larson won. Tough race to lose...

Or maybe at Truex's retirement announcement.

Ha Ha! Yeah...either he'll get so discouraged with the team dynamics that seem to shoot him in the foot, or he'll just hang it up because no contract renewal is imminent for him.

The thing is he's consistently in that top 5 to 10 group each week(right now he has the most points for the season wihtout an actual win). Same as last season. He ended up 2nd overall by the very end (if I remember correctly), so he's not exactly over the hill as a capable driver.

Well that's the thing. I'm sure he wants to go out on top, and that is almost within reach. But perhaps not really.
