I have a 60 C10 that I am about to start slowly restoring. It currently has a 235 w/ 3spd transmission. I have a friend that is going to give me a 283 he took out of his 66 C10. Can you guys tell me what all I will need for the swap? I have a V8 horseshoe motor mount that I was told would work. I am not sure if I am going to keep the transmission or swap that for a 64/65 M20 4spd. I don’t have a lot of experience with all of this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I swapped a 327 from a '65 Impala into my '65 C10 and that was a simple swap. That said, the '60-'62 uses different motor mounts so that part may not be as easy. What I Can tell you is that everything that bolts the motor to the transmission will directly swap over. The flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, etc will all work with the SBC. All I had to do was put a pilot bearing in the crank since my '327 came with an automatic. For the '63-'66, you can even re-use the motor mounts, but I don't know about the '60-'62.

That 283 will not bolt up to the 235 bell housing. You'll have to find a truck V8 bell housing.
