Just need to confirm what I saw and read regarding the swap.
My question is about the frame mounts for the cross member. From what I've seen and read the frame mounts for the 400 appear to be on the same plane as the 350 mounts? I mean the same distance from the ground. The same height as the 350 mounts, just farther back?

Jeff,
You are correct. Look for posts from me. There was a guy who was doing a swap to the TH200-4R recently in the 65-66 section and that transmission uses exactly the same mount position as the TH400. It's late tonight else I would search and post photos here.

Sounds good. The member I was referring to is Rick "ParkRNDL" and here's a link to his thread:

At some point we need to measure the distance between front an rear mounts. I think the most reliable position to measure would be front hole to front hole of the second mount (or rear to rear).
I let the transmission be my guide for placement. Rick was hopefully going to be able to do the same.

I just came in from welding my brackets and measured exactly as you did. Looks nice and don't see any problems, except one...
I noticed the shifter linkage at the trans is not lined up with the TH400, looks to be off an 1" or so.
Didn't have time to mess with it tonight but thinking just make a bracket and move the TH350 bracket back a ways?
Open to suggestions.

Jeff,
The linkage for mine was lost. I ended up buying replacement linkage for the TH400 from another member (Brett B) to use with the TH200-4R. Unfortunately I have no comparison point.
If you have some photos of your set-up maybe I can see if mine looks the same.

After looking at it with fresh eyes, it is where it is suppose to be. Put it together and was adjusted exactly like the TH350 was. All is good!
