when I got my car 16+ years ago, it never had working e-brakes or cables for that matter.
Over the years I have upgraded to disks all around and am now just getting to putting in the e-brake cables.
The intermediate (second cable) that came with the rear disk kit has got to be about 24" to short. Good thing I had an intermediate from Cars Inc but that cable is about 3 to 4 inches to short as well. :sad :
Has anyone out there made your own?
The 1/8" Cable and Cable Ferrules can be purchased at a variety of outlets. I picked up 50ft, so I have plenty to test with.
I just have to figure out a way to crimp the ferrule so it can withstand a minimum of 65 - 70 ft lbs, as that is the upper limit of the e-brake peddle pressure.
I am thinking of putting my 3 ton manual press to work but need to figure a way to crimp and not squish the ferrule.
Any suggestions or idears would be greatly appreaciated.

Cable crimper tool?
Borrow one, rent one, buy one at princess auto, Home Depot? Seems to me the crimps you can buy are soft, maybe lead?

The ferrules are aluminum.
I tested one using my Master Cool brake flaring tool.
The ferrule fits nicely in there but the wire is a tad loose in it.
I will test again with adding some MIG wire in the ferrule along with the cable to get a tighter fit.
I put the assembly in my vice and used a cheater bar to get as much pressure as possible, might try my century old 3 ton press.

This was the final result but the cable is just slightly small, I will have to test with filling the gaps with MIG wire or strands from the cable it self.

You could dip the cable in an epoxy glue or JB Weld before clamping it.

Also search swage or swaging tools. You can find them on Amazon and other places. They make affordable ones in hand crimp and hydraulic versions.
