Anyone done the swap of a 63/64 tilt into a 61/62? What’s involved? Or anyone know the difference between the years in dimensions?

I think it’s doable if you get everything from the steering box up. The 64 has a different size at the top where the base of the wheel meets the column, the 64 wheel has a different size wheel base, I’d say the 63 wheel base and column top would be the same as a 61 but I don’t know that for sure.
The wiring and horn setup is different from a 61/62, you’d likely have to use a 63 or 64 wheel to match whichever column you are using. The 63 column is very rare, hard to find, and more expensive than the more common 64 column. The Canadian Pontiac has the same columns as the Chevies, only the dash trim bracket below the column is different between the Chevy and Pontiac. I assume that bracket from a 61 Chev would fit a 63/64 Chev or Pontiac column.
I’ve posted pictures here before of a 63 Parisienne tilt wheel, a search should turn them up.

Thanks for all that info!! Do you know the difference in diameter of the 63 64 columns? And I assume the length of the tilts including the butterfly part and non tilts are the same?

Contact this guy from Texas who rebuilds tilt columns.
He says the conversion to 62 from a 63 tilt is easy.

Paul, thanks for the plug. Yes I repair GM and mopar tilts, also regular columns. I’ve also converted 63/64 tilts to fit 61,62 Chevys. However, in my opinion, it’s not worth it. These tilts are going up in price where now it’s not cost effective to cut it up. You can pick up a 63,64,65 or 66 GM (non Chevy) or aftermarket tilts for a low price and use that.
Anyhow,if you still want to do this, the only modification needed is to cut the lower collar. Just make sure you line up the cut to the lower part of the dash first, cut a little at a time, cut and match. Match and cut again until you have it. Everything should fit, just like if you were installing in a 63/64 Chevy. If you have the lower intermediate shaft even better, if not, you need to get or make one. As for the wiring, the only difference is the turn signal switch. Here's a picture of where to cut, also a picture of two top collars, one 1963 and a 1964,notice the 63 has a slight roll at the top and the 64 has a complete roll; both interchange. Hope this helps.
notice in the first picture. The lower collar is squeezed. Someone installed this column in a vehicle with a tac without the cut in the column.

Thanks so much for the info!! Yes you are correct the 63/64 tilts for chevys are really up there in price for sure!!
So are you saying any or the other 63/64 non chevy GM tilt columns will bolt right in after trimming the lower collar? And you just trim the lower collar on the column not use the one from mu 61 column?

Hello, after rechecking, the Mast Jacket on Buick and Oldsmobile columns are larger in diameter, so some modifications might need to be done. Depending on the column you use, the Mast Jacket cover (lower collar) will be missing because that’s part of the lower part of the dash. Cadillac and some Pontiac columns are best for this type of conversion. The Mast Jacket cover (lower collar) off of a 1958-64 regular column will not adapt to any tilt, it’s just to small in diameter. Hope this helps

Here's a good example of what a 63/64 Chevy tilt, modified to fit a 61/62 is going for.

Oh I know man they are not cheap. There is a couple guys doing them but seems a lot just to trim them. One guy isn’t bad you supply the tilt he will rebuild and mod it for 1000.
