The subject is a 97 GM Lt1 engine in a 57 Chevy that's set up as 95. Does anyone have the Street & Performance computer system for this swap?

Some 95 vehicles were actually obd 1.5, a precursor to obd11. Early obd systems used the body feed fuse to power the scanner and access data. Is your scanner capable of accessing that transition year system?

Hi Sheperd,
I have no idea actually or even where to begin a search as the screen won't go past the aforementioned response, unless there's some kind of work around.
The Computer was programed by S&P of Mena, Arkansas fame. I would think it's a rather strightforward OBD 1 program. Options yes, such as what to turn on/off, gear ratios in the trans and final drive, a/c,fuel canister, the tune itself such as race, street, ECO, etc, but nothing related to future tuning as it was deliberately set to run OBD 1 as is as far as I know.
Thank You

You need to check with those people and see if your scanner is compatible with their pcm mods, and ask why you cannot access data. You may have fried something in the ecu/pcm when you had wiring issues.

The scan tool works just fine with this setup.
S&P is gone
yike! i'll learn how to test the ignition module first, as i can not scan the system. If it's ok, then I may have to think about being in the same situation as yesterday and today.
Thanks for the boost Sheperd1

Not an expert but, I would verify power to the ecu first. You said the fans are working, are they controlled by the ecu or separate circuit? If by the ecu then it has power. Note, I also have a S&P system an have no support either. I remember cautions about electrical arcs and welding with the battery connected. Hope you find the problem.

Hi John42 Thanks!
It's my bad, fans are NOT working which is sad as you say, they are a signal that the ECU is getting power.
According to the S&P instructions and my interpation, there are a couple of sources of power at the fusebox, like fuse 4 and possibly one or both of the relays at the bottom of the AAW fuse box.
My CEL quite working too however the reason is the brown wire came out of the fusebox somehow (big hands) and I cannot access it w/o removing the front seat, due to my age. I can ask a guy however, so maybe.

This really saws me off as I spent a lot of time during the build ensuring I would not have to do anything like this because of an overlooked joint I didn't solder or something. It has worked flawlessly..but that one darn misstep with the ground wire.

Hay 4dr If the CEL is not on then there is no power to the PCM. That light needs to be lit with key on,engine off. Fuse #5 in the under hood fuse box powers the PCM. The PCM ground should be on the front of the left cylinder head. Good luck

Thank You Roauto - 3 weels later and I still - need to get out there and check check things out...scared to, I guess. I did discover the stray wire is for the Rostra Cruise Control. Will be checking fuses soon. I replaced the Ignition Module as well.

Finally got the time to check some things out today.
As of now the CEL lights up and goes off when cranking. The scan tool works successfully and there are no codes. Motor spins but won't start or rather it wants to start but only 1 cylinder is firing. I can tell as one tube is warm while all other are cold. Any suggestions?

I put 4 gallons of gas in it early last fall in an empty tank, so there should be enough gas. I can hear it splashing into the tank from the return line, I think.
Thanks.
Stan

The problem with leaving the Batt. connected while welding is the ignition coil gets burned out immediately!
Most everything was ok once I replaced it (again)
Problem now is only 1 cylinder is firing when I try to start the engine. #1 tube is warm, all others are cold. Any ideas besides the distributor - I don't want to hear that one. Thanks John

Pull plugs and see if they are wet after you try to crank. If no gas then the problem is probably in the fuel supply. Alternatively, place a timing light on the other cylinders and see if you have spark on that cylinder while cranking.
Mine sat so long that the injectors were clogged and the fuel pump fried from jelled gas. I understand your pain. I hope that you can get it isolated.

That'a great idea, thanks! I'll hae to check again if it is #1 that's firing. That would be a great sign if it were,or so I've read.

ok, so I had dental surgery and my sister-in-law came down from the USVI (if there is such a thing!) to get her yearly heart check up.
All is well! Now 2-3 wks later I'm about ready to get ahold of my new mechanic afgain and get the wires and plugs checked out. Thanks again guys!
