Hello everyone!

I have a 63 impala that has an open differential. I have found a factory posi unit from a 62 impala. Will I need to shorten my axles for this swap or will my 63 impala non-posi axles work with this 62 impala factory differential?

Thanks

I’m asking because I think I heard there’s a difference between 55-57 axles depending on it they are for a posi vs non-posi rear end. So I’m wondering if that’s the case for my car?

Several years ago I did exactly what you want to do, no issues. 62 Posi installed in a 63 Impala without Posi.
