I have a motor with a code stamped on the front of the motor and I can’t tell what it means. TG29XCH8
I think it was made in Tonawanda and G is for July. Then the 29th.
but am stuck after that. Can anyone tell me more?

The digits don't make sense. Any chance you can post pic? Maybe the digits are misinterpreted?
Its possible it could be a replacement engine and the codes mean nothing.

If thats your picture over on Chevy Forum it appears to be stamped over another #, possibly rebuilt and re-coded but doubtful it's from factory like that...this SBC or big block?
