It's been a long time since I posted on this forum but now I could use some advice. I'm tired of my power glide puking fluid when sitting and was reading how a lot of people love the 2004r conversion. I picked up a 2004r and in the process ordering parts for the conversion. The engine is a stock 283 powerpack. Has anyone hooked up the TV cable to a stock 57 Carter 4 barrel? I know I have to get the correct geometry so not to burn up the Trannie. I see Bowler has kits for aftermarket carbs Holley, Edelbrock etc. Also, a little confused on what lockout kit to go with. I know some people just put a switch on the dash, but I'd like for it to be more automatic.

I think you mean a 200R4. When I installed a 700R4 in my pickup I went to Bowtie Overdrives for the cable setup. They have kits for many different carbs and had one for my stock 2 barrel 307 engine. Excellent customer service too. Once you have it installed, there is a procedure to hook up a pressure gauge to the tranny. You then record pressure readings in each gear and call them and they will tell you how to adjust the cable (if needed) for proper operation.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've seen it spelled both ways, but it is really 2004R.at least all the parts I've ordered were for a 2004R.Thanks for the info, I'll give Bowtie and Bowler a call when I get to that point.
