I just measured the cylinder bore on my 350 and it shows 4.0 so someone had that engine bored out, replaced the pistons and put in a new cam. That's good news for me. So if I look for aluminum heads and cam guess I should let them know.

If it was bored it would be more than 4.00.

The bore of the 350 cu in sbc engine is 4.0" as built. So is the 327, and the 302. The 350 has approx 3 1/2" stroke, the 327 approx 3 1/4" stroke and the 302 approx 3".
IF (emphasis on IF) you are seeking higher low end torque (and HP), rebuilding that block to 383 cu in (4" bore, approx 3-3/4" stroke). Parts are readily available.
Or, buy a 383 crate engine. Either way it is easy to get 400 hp at 5k rpm, and over 400 lb-ft of torque from 2k-4k rpm (max somewhere around 440 at about 3800 rpm).
Just a thought.
