Been workin on my 75 to get her tuned and run-in pretty fast! Man I went to back out my driveway nice and easy and straight and then BAM! passenger side drops hard1 Snapped ball joint at the threads.
got this car six months ago or so.bought a Moog kit and a ball joint so I could get her off the curb and in garage. I am aware that anytime you snap a ball joint you gotta replace steering knuckle/spindle.hard to find! want my baby back jackrabbitin around town again. anybody got some spindle set or just a passenger with good tapers and disc brakes. Still learning bout this Malley and her parts and how she go together with other gm A bodies. could use your help.

Message or reply Im here lookin and waiting

thank ya

uh, never heard of having to replace spindles for that. make sure ball joints are the same length.

Thanks for quick response Bob
In my 75 shop manual it states that any damage or out of round in taper ends is cause to replace knuckle do to allowing stud movement.
I went over it with a fine tooth comb and though not perfect it wasn't to bad. then went to check the torque specs for new Moog and that where they state that for any reason of a stud snap you gotta replace spindle. the fit up and install I did is Quality for sure. On the stud that snapped the king nut was only half way threaded with rounded wear and polished on the bottom were it sits on spindle. looks like a bad install...like I said and Im a newbie to this situation. Moog is a badass company so it got me thinking...Car is fast and me n my ol lady like it that way with rubber side down! I want to hear your experience with this.

ok, if that castle nut was not tight then the tapered hole could be wallowed out. easy to check. clean the tapered hole with brake cleaner. slather on a bunch or ink from a sharpie to coat the whole stud of a new ball joint. stick it in and rotate it around a bit and check for a pattern in the hole. also if the stud wobbles in the hole its a no go.
