Can a 283 intake with just 2 front water ports be mated to heads with both front and rear ports

bolt pattern must be the same.

yeah, since the heads are interchangeable, too either side of the block,they can be used on left or right bank, the rear coolant port in the heads is blocked by the non-existent rear manifold coolant passage on most intakes while in use

coolant flows up into the cylinder heads from the block and flows forward through the heads back to the t-stat/radiator
