A friend of mine is trying, without success, to install the original lock in the trunk of his 1957 Vette and can't seem to figure it out. Can someone help with this problem. Thanks in advance......Phil

I haven't worked on a 57; however, my long gone 1960 and current 1958 had trunk locks that I was able to re-install. Inside the trunk would be a metal clip that slides into place between the fiberglass and lock mechanism to provide enough pressure keeping the lock in place. I can't describe the clip without waving my hands and talking loud will not help me describe the details. Find the clip and just try a few slides to determine what does work. Larry

Yes sir the clip is called a horseshoe clip. Anyway I went to a Corvette forum and discovered the secret. You have to remove the round Corvette trunk medallion and that will give you access to the back of the lock and allow you to slide the above mentioned clip into place.....Phil
