What is the best compound to remove scratches and
swirl marks.

3M products are best. Each has a certain amount of abrasive material that will smooth the paint.

I usually try polishing compound first. You can go up or down from there. If the polishing compound does the job, then apply another buffing one step finer and finish with some type of wax.

Keep in mind that all of this removes a certain amount of clearcoat. There is no "erasing" these swirl marks, you end up cutting enough material off to make the surface flat.

Do not use anything coarse as you will cut through the clear, then you're going to have to repaint and reclear that section.

Also, keep the buffer moving around and do not burn the finish.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.

There’s other products besides 3M. Mothers, Griot and more. Start with the least abrasive and work up from there. Maybe do it by hand first before using a buffer.
