I was having trouble getting the rpm's down at idle. Fortunately, I have a friend who has worked of these cars a bit. We found that the vacuum choke controls were not working on either carb. Also cleaned the passenger side secondary (was dribbling a little when car was running. Should have a couple choke controls soon to get that done.
So far I have replaced the backup switch and checked the oil in axle and transmission. Got front end aligned and found bolts loose on the upper control arms. Pulled the rear wheels and checked the brake shoes.I have learned a lot just by getting under the car and looking around.
I don't plan on riding the car very much until spring anyway so I am in no hurry.

I have not worked on the car for a bit. I did get the vacuum choke controls replaced but I still can't get the idle speed down. If I get the idle below about 750 rpm it stalls out. I have checked for vacuum leaks. I just purchased a gage to check the balance of the carburetors. I hope to get back to the car soon.
In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas on what else to check?
Thanks, Pete

Worked on a 69 belonging to a friend several years ago, haven't had the pleasure recently but I did go thru all 4 carbs at that time. Rebuild kits should be available, Clark's Corvair up here in central Ma. is the probably the best for parts and reference materials. I recall it was tricky to get them balanced but can be done. Something to look at is the side to side cross rod between left and right linkages. It has a tendency to flex and if the bushings are worn or missing it'll be nearly impossible to keep idle/throttle settings in line. Also important to verify timing and vacuum.
