I've been wondering if anyone else's '65 SS came with a package tray covered with white"rabbit fur" looking material? I've owned it since 1984.I just started a restoration and while looking at other '65s with white interior I noticed several that appear to have the same material? What this a "thing" in the 60s or 70s. Just curious. And what color package tray did white interior/black carpet cars come with black or white?
Thanks.

Package tray color usually matches carpet and dash color. I have had several white interior cars and all had package trays matching dash color. I have never seen a white package tray factory original. The furry stuff was popular in '60's and '70's customizing and kind of faded out from popularity by early '80's. Same idea with crushed velvet diamond tuck upholstery.

Yeah, the fur (or carpet) was a '70s thing. Useful for covering up sun faded panel board.

Ha! How true! Could also be covering up botched speaker instillation so it looks nice and smooth.
