For anyone attempting a door hinge rebuild or replacement, a manual impact wrench is a must. And, with the hinge open, there are two 9/16 bolts that are easily removed. These bolts attach to a captured nut plate, unfortunately this plate moves making reinstallation a pain. My solution was to use two rods to align the captured nut holes and place a small magnet behind the plate to stabilize the plate for installation of the hinge.

I will consider this a victory.

Very good. Those captured nuts are fine until time and other elements cause them to shift out of position. This assembly concept is from an era where precision in the parts was pretty low compared to today's standard, so you had to allow some "wiggle room" to get things to line up.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.
