I'm getting ready to install a new windshield and need to order sealant. Is the CRL7711 in the caulking tube good to use?

I'm not familiar with that product, but if CR Laurence sells it as windshield sealer it will be just fine.
This is the old standby, also by CRL.

Thanks, Robert. I chose the tube because I didn't want to spend money on a pump that would end up sitting in a cabinet.

I used that same tube type on my '56 in Feb this year and a similar tube type back in 1986.
One of the other car forums seems to promote using the rope/roll type sealant.

It will stay sticky for (just about) forever. That's its job--to stay sticky and not get hard. When windshield/back glass sealants get hard, they will pull away from either the glass or the gasket, and let water in. In 2010 I pulled the original factory windshield from my '53 convertible, I expected the pinchweld to be rusted out, because this car had sat out in the woods for 20 years, and the floors, trunk floor, door bottoms ALL were rusted completely out. Here's what the pinchweld looked like after I pulled the windshield--the factory sealant had stayed nice and sticky for almost 60 years, and had protected the metal perfectly.
