I got a 01 4x4 Suburban and i want to swap in a 4l80. From the research i've done it seems pretty involved and I'm equipped to do it but is it worth it or should I just get a 2500?

You're probably best off just getting a 2500. While it can be done, it's a lot of effort. Also, what is the reason behind wanting a 4L80e? If it's for towing, then the brakes and upgraded suspension of the 2500 makes it a better towing vehicle. The 4L60E is a capable transmission if it's not abused. For moderate towing, as long as it has a tow package (including hitch and tranny cooler) it should last quite awhile.

I have performed the swap from the 4l60 to a 4l80. my reasoning was I put a 400hp 6.0l in front of it. Although it runs well, it is geared really low in 1st (good for towing). It was a moderately difficult swap and I have not been able to get the stability control or traction control to work since performing the swap. I would just opt to get a 2500
