My granddaughters are getting older and would like to start joining us on some of the weekend events like cars and coffee so I sold one of our two seat hotrods and decided to build a car with a back seat.
I found a 1953 convertible that had good bones so I picked it up in October and started tearing it apart and coming up with a plan to do a mild custom.

I'm hoping to end up with something like this car I was trying to buy. It was a really nice looking car but the suspension had some issues I didn't want to deal with for the money they were selling this car for.

So this is where I’m at today, I’m still trying to figure out how to post pictures to this site “right side up” so these first few post are kind of spread out but I’ll work on getting better.

Welcome to the build forum, Jim! Very nice car and parts! As for the photos, the forum only posts in landscape, no way around it.

Welcome to ChevyTalk. Tony told me a long time ago to take the photos in landscape and they would post correctly. Guess I should put that with the info on posting photos.

I'm checking the articulation to make sure nothing binds, everything looks good at 7” so I’m moving forward and I’ll start welding everything up.

Test fitting the body, still waiting on some parts to finalize the engine mounts but I think I'm close.

New oil pan finally showed up so I could finalize the engine mounts. Put the body back on so I can start boxing in this section of missing floor..

The column is too short by a few inches so I took it apart and started coming up with a plan to lengthen it.

The lower extension lets me move the steering wheel in and out or up and down a few inches for final fit up but I’m calling it good for now and I’ll start making the parts for a column shifter.

Finally had a day here in Idaho that was above freezing so I was able to get the body out of the shop and power wash all of the loose undercoating and dirt off the underside.
