Its been a little bit between updates but Christmas took three weeks between sick grandbabies and flight delays but we finally got that behind us and I can get back to work.. I got the box tubing frame structure finished and the 14-gauge skins put in, I believe this will be stronger than the section I removed and I shouldn’t have a bunch of body flex back there.

Before I remove the body and start prepping for body work I needed to fit a steering column, IDIDIT has been stroking me for 3 months and I needed to do something even if it was wrong. So I canceled the IDIDIT column and ordered a Lime Works column with mostly everything I need, the Lime Works column will need some modification and I’ll need to machine some parts that they didn’t have in stock but I can keep moving forward.

I figured while I was cutting a new steering column apart, I might as well add self-canceling blinkers, this picture shows a blinker housing on the top and the extension on the bottom of the column.

I made some quick exhaust hangers form some stainless I had floating around the shop then removed the engine and suspension flipped the frame over and finished all the welding.

I drug it outside and used my 40,000 psi hydro blaster to strip the frame to bare steel.

Waiting for the chassis paint to show up I jumped back on the steering column, I needed to make an upper shift lever boss and I was wanting something that looked more period correct and less CNC billet than what Lime works offers. First I drew a boss that was dimensionally correct and smoothed all the edges in an effort to give it more of a cast appearance.

The first attempt had a small issue in the code..

The second attempt was better so I can cross this off my list and start trying to figure out what I’m going to do for a heater core.
