I have a 1964 Chevy impala Tudor hard top with A327 motor in it. I recently recently changed it over to to hei with one wire hook up to the alternator. I don't have the distributor in it yet. I wanted to set the timing but I have no power to anything. I have the engine grounded to the frame and frame to the body. I replaced the steering column with a billet one. No key in the column. Has both new engine and front light narness on it. Were should I start looking first for troubleshooting??? Please help

Check the main harness connection at the firewall, under the brake master cylinder. That is a known wear point and the contacts in the plastic connectors get loose.

People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know.

Might have something to do with that one wire alternator. Check with the manufacturer. Is the engine harness to one for the one wire, or rewired correctly?
