Yesterday my 05 Silverado's went wonky. Alarm going off and the gauge needle jumping madly around.
Finally settled in at 80psi
Now when I go to start it, the needle pegs out at 80 and stays there unless I go down a steep incline.
I'm figuring the sending unit went bad. What are your thoughts?

Fairly common for the oil pressure sensor to go bad once it's got some age on it. I've replaced them on both our 06's. All you need to access it is to pull the plastic engine cover so don't bother with worrying about tearing anything down. It's cramped quarters and you'll work by braille a little bit but it's 100% do-able; a little experimentation with a combo of extensions, u-joint, and socket will get it done.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It's a little unsettling when driving, but I'll have to deal with it until Wednesday when I can get to it
