Hey everyone, just rebuilt my headlight wiring harness from scratch. It was my first time doing an electrical job that big. Everything came out great!
Now I want to continue up the wiring routing and take care of some burnt up wires that are "downstream" or "upstream" (lol) from the headlight harness connector. They run through my firewall.
So this area marked in red, is the area I want to clean up and rewire. Is this a plug? Or are these wires actually running through and continuing along into the cab?
And I am specifically talking about the wires going through the white box. I believe there is another set of wires under that was going into a black box.
Now after we figure out that first part.
If the wires are actually running through, then they are running into this box here. Which I will have to pull the pins from. How do I remove this? I tried once a long time ago but remember I couldn't figure out how to do it. It wasnt super obvious
Appreciate you guys! Super excited after the headlight job. Harness came out great!
I'm ready to rewire and upgrade all the wiring in this truck LOL... now if I could only access it... mwahaha
I could be wrong but look in the center of that plug (between the wires)
I thought the plug screwed into the block.
I swapped the cab on my 90 awhile back and had this all apart.
Nice job by the way
I got it figured out, so the next big question is. If I just rewire this whole interior dash harness, can I upgrade all the wires to a little thicker 16 gauge? I noticed some of the wires are ultra thin 24 gauge.
I got a burned up turn signal wire that just melted across the whole thing LOL
And who knows what the heck is going on in that "hot glue gun mess" inside that white firewall "plug"... you think if they used a plug below it for the harness... they would just use a plug above it for the harness.. hey guys just shove the wires through and we will seal up the firewall with hot glue
