My 1990 Suburban V2500 with a 5.7 holley tbi and a th400 trans.
I changed out the cap wires coil to MSD with e3 plugs. Changed out the 02 sensor and the truck runs great. I noticed when I-warm it up the go to put it in reverse the check engine light comes on. I back her out and park then shut the key off and restart her and the light goes out ant the truck runs great again. It just did it again a few hours ago. I left work (not using reverse and no light. I got some food and started it up no light. When i put in reverse the light came on so I pulled over shut her off waited 15 seconds and the light blinked and went out. Drove fine
Please share some knowledge and I sure do appreciate the help

If it did not do this before, look at related wiring that would be affected by the engine rocking only in reverse, check motor mounts that could cause excess movement also.

Check the trouble codes. If you have not disconnected the battery they codes should be in the memory.

For those of you that are wondering why you are not getting replies to your thread:

Did you give the model, year, engine, fuel system type, and transmission information?

If your vehicle has been altered from stock, let us know about that too.

Your welcome!

All you need to read the codes is a jumper wire.

The link I posted in my reply has the instructions on reading codes without a scan tool.

Generally go back over the process you went through doing any recent repairs, look for something pinching a harness or when going into reverse pulling on a connector. As mentioned a obd 1 scan may show a code that can steer you onto something, no quick answer from our desks of course.
