I have two 1955/56 1110847 distributors. The cam and advance weights are held in place with a plate. One distributor has the embossed ridge facing down, and the other one has the embossed ridge facing up. The manuals do not discuss the correct way to install the plate. Please help. Thank you Chevi

Thanks for responding and I'm Sorry I'm slow getting back to you. Yes my distributor is an 1110847. In the bottom photo we are looking at the Breaker Plate. Below that plate sits the Weight and Cam Cover Plate. This plate holds the cam and weights in place. This is the plate that is embossed. I'm not sure it matters which side is up but it would be nice to know the answer. Chevi

This distributor was quite dirty and I did have to pry out the points plate, it felt as though something was holding the plate in so I was extra careful, didn’t want to break or bend anything. Turns out the dirt and trash was binding on the plate. Here’s what was underneath, uploaded 2 photos as one was a little blurred, as you can see the indents face down.
