So, trying to clean up the stock grill and save a few bucks. The black sections between the ribs around the headlights have faded and missing most of the paint. I’m not sure what paint I should use on the grill, any ideas?

I refreshed a grill on a 64 years ago. I used masking tape and used a razor blade to cut around the black areas.
I used semi-gloss black paint where the original black was and it looked new.
Probably cost me $3.00 and it was worth the time.
People fear change because it threatens what they know, or what they claim to know. |

I did that on my standard hubcaps. Lots and lots of masking tape and just rattle can flat black paint did the job.

I cleaned and polished my 64 grill with a product called Nevr-Dull. I carefully took out dents from the back side. Then did pretty much as Tony did, mask and paint with semi gloss black.

Thanks guys, turns out I had some leftover semi gloss engine enamel and some masking tape. I had a little bleed thru on the masking tape but it’s now a 10 footer grill. I got it in but now I’m trying to figure out what hardware is used for the where it bolts to the fenders.
I don’t want to start another thread but any idea where this goes? It’s in my grill, headlights and hardware bag.

that bracket mounts to the long front bumper brace (through a hole in the brace) to mount the stud to the bottom of the center grille mounting bracket.

I took tons of pictures and had an assembly for my 63 and was doing the same on my 60 when I lost all my pictures. I know not everyone can do this but I found a complete parts car and that is my pattern now.
