I am getting an erratic ABS light with a code of C0227 on my 2001 Sierra with 200,000 miles. My scanner reads "left rear wheel speed sensor circuit range performance". I plan to examine the speed sensor & harness in the next day or so. Until then are there any suggestions as to what to look for or what else may cause this code other than the speed sensor & harness? My research turns up very little info on a "left rear wheel speed circuit range performance" issue that does not include speedometer or shifting problems. This issue started today and so far the light is the only indication of a problem. A little over a year ago I encountered multiple ABS codes which required repair of the ABS module. As usual, thank you all in advance for your information & suggestions.

If you have a full function scanner that can look at wheel speed inputs, you could clear the code, which will bring the abs back on line, then look at comparative wheel speeds, this will confirm the sensor or wiring is the issue. If the abs lite is on this usually will not work.
