I'm looking to buy a 1969 Camaro that has Z/28 badging and no X code on the cowl tag.
Its the hugger orange with ivory interior and the 12437 on the tag. It also reflects NOR114874 and 10B (October 2nd week). Seller does claim it's a HA suffix NOM 300hp, 350 V8. I read HA means 350 block with manual transmission, which is what it has. Any other suggestions or what to look for or ask to verify it was originally a Z/28?

Take a look here: http://www.camaros.org/
It must have:
- 4-speed transmission.
- 12 bolt rear axle.
- Power front disc brakes.
- Tach with 6000 rpm redline with 7000 rpm maximum.
- No A/C.
- No ZL2 cowl hood --> N/A until Dec 1968. Of course, this hood could have been added.

Thank you for the info. As of now, the seller backed out but waiting to see if he changes his mind but I'll keep this in mind for sure!

1969
SS - 36,309 total units
Pace Car - 3,675 units

Camaro was given a make-over for 1969, introducing new sheet metal that gave the car a decidedly lower, wider stance - hence the name "Hugger." Production started on September 26, 1968 and ended on February 26, 1970, effectively making the next Camaro a 1970-1/2. The options grew as well as the color palette. An optional "halo" vinyl roof gave Camaro a distinctive look. For a second time, the Camaro paced the Indianapolis 500. A Dover White RS/SS Convertible with orange houndstooth upholstery and the now-famous "Hugger orange" stripes made this Pace Car memorable. Approximately 3,675 replicas were produced. A grand total of 243,065 1969 Camaros were built.

Be suspicious of any Z28 that does not come with original documentation, e.g. Protect-O-Plate warranty etc. Lots of very clever clones (aka fakes) out there and many a buyer has been hoodwinked into buying one.
