I have a 39 Chevrolet Master Deluxe. The orginal 216 engine is bad. I have a 230 and 235 engine witch one is a better motor. My plans are just going to car show and drive on the weekends. The transmission has to be a automatic transmission. Which transmission would work with 230? The 235 was made in 58 not sure about the 230. Just looking to rebuild the engine and just make it a good cruising car. Thanks

Either are good engines, but the 230 will allow you more transmission choices, and will accept a TH350 transmission, which is a better choice for an automatic. An even better choice would be the 250 Chevy six if you can locate one.
