So I attempted to get a seat cover from fleebay to replace my tattered seat bottom. My code is 522 tan for interior color ordered a cover said it was for code 522 well I got it and it is a lighter shade than mine. I got ahold of seller and they said that was the only color of tan they have and refunded me and said to just keep cover dont send back .OK great but I still need a seat cover. Was there more than 1 color of tan under code 522 ?

Not an upholstery expert but can try to help - need a little more info though.. cloth or leather? What seat arrangement (buckets, split bench) and what cab style?

I don’t know if there were different shades for the same code, but I’d doubt it. When the covers are installed when the seats are made, they install them in sets from the same manufacturer. They had different suppliers, so the shades may vary from one supplier to another. But that is of little concern to the car maker because they match each other when they are installed as a set.

I think this is one of the items where you get what you pay for . Dam I don't want to spend $200 plus on a GM set

From what I can find, the 522 color code and your year/model correlates to what GM calls "medium neutral"

Not sure who to recommend getting the seat covers from, as I haven't done that yet but will need to soon. I've heard some good things about the Seat Shop but you won't be happy to see the driver side bottom cover is $229 alone.

Paint will fade and yellow over time. It is unlikely you will get an exact match to the color you currently have unless you go to an SEM dealer, have them scan your seat cover, and mix a custom paint for you.

IMO you did well by finding an affordable seat cover that fit. I did my best and came up with one that was too small.

I do not recall exactly what I paid however, I used The Seat Shop a few years ago and the color match was perfect. My truck is a 2001 Sierra with medium gray leather. If you have not yet made a decision, I recommend replacing the foam cushion, as mine was starting to deteriorate.
