Hi everyone ..hope everyone is ready for summer ..I have been working on getting my original 1956 265 running again and have ran into a problem with a hole in the back of the block beside the downdraft tub. Is this a oil pressure hole ? If not what is it for and what size of bolt can I use to plug it with ..

Generally pipe plugs (threaded or press fit) are used to plug oil and water gallery holes, not bolts. Unlike a bolt, having straight threads, pipe plugs have tapered threads and a sealant is required. Post a picture and someone can identify the purpose of the specific hole.

If it is a small hole in the block just past the end of the intake manifold it is for when you run NOS!!!! WAIT !!!! In real life it is for picking up your oil pressure and routing same to your pressure gauge. If you plug it where will you be able to get a reading?

Great .. thanks for the info
So here is another question if anyone is able to help me with it .. it's regarding my distributor.
So I have a Delco Remy distributor model 1110847 and I'm trying to get electronic points for it .. so as per the year and model of my 265 Motor it was recommended to use the pertonics 1183 model but the plate doesn't fit ..I called pertonics and they told me it should fit (it doesn't ) they also recommended 1181 but that is for the larger rotor. Has any one with that model of distributor know what the correct pertonics I need ?
Again it's a stock 1956 265 V8 with Delco Remy model 1110847..
