Guys,
Several years ago I bought from Classic Ind. a plastic lens to cover the console light at the rear of the 1965 SS console. The lens was for the SS automatic console. That was all that was available at the time. Thirty-five bucks plus shipping. Doesn't really fit very well.
Now CI is offering a lens supposedly made for the 4-speed console. Have any of you bought one of these and does it fit the 4-speed console?
CI does list this item with a part number different than the auto console lens.
Thanks for any info! Bill

The auto lens I got from them for my auto console is terrible. Doesn't fit well, or snap in, just kind of sits there.

Ditto the fit ( or lack of?) for the auto console lens. I seem to remember Classic having both auto and 'manual/4 spd' listed but ow can't find it in their catalogue. Don't know what the difference is at that back end of the console but my 3 spd m/t uses the auto console

Guys,
Thanks for the info! Once again Tim has provided me with a source, I will contact seller in the morning with a question or two, right now what the seller has looks good. If I buy this I will report back in a week or three with how it fits. Thanks to all who responded! Bill

Why would there be a listing for 2 lenses, the consoles are basically the same and the lens should fit either.

The 65 assembly manual lists two different part numbers: 3858907 for the 4-speed console lens and 3851648 (this may not be the correct number due to copy quality but is obviously different from the 4-speed) for the seat separator (i.e. 3 on the tree)/automatic console.

The 4-76 version of the GM Parts Manual lists the 4-speed part number as 3859752 but lists no automatic console lens part number.

What is the obvious difference in the rear of the console. Understand the front section for an auto or 4-spd but what is different in the rear hand I am talking 66

From what I can tell the 66 console lens is the same for auto and 4 speed. The 65 4 speed console lens appears to be thicker (taller?) than the auto console lens. Just going by visual and the fact there are two part numbers.
