I am looking to put a new oil pan gasket on my 55 Nomad. I have side mounts and was wondering if the pan can be removed without jacking up the engine. I heard of turning the engine to get the front cylinder rods up put of the way. Is that the way to get the pan back and down past the frame crossmember? Wondering.

Disconnect the steering linkage at the idler arm and let it drop down. You should now have full access to R&R the oil pan.
