I know many of you have done the Jag front suspension and the idea keeps calling from deep in my mind. I have some questions and rather than ask these questions in one of the posts/builds some of you have posted, I thought I'd start another thread with just my questions:

1. I have in my notes that you can use a 73-79 Series II XJ6 or XJ12a or a 79-85 Series III. Lobucrod, I see that you used an 86, so my first question is: What is the complete list of years that will fit my 51?

2. I was under the impression that the Jag front end was the same fit as the stock 49-54. Flatout, I noticed that you narrowed the width, so my second question is: What is the width of the Jag?

3. I have a 235 in my 51. I have AC compressor and alternator on a modified Alan Grove bracket. Third question: Does anyone with the Jag front have a 235 with AC, alternator and power steering that can post some pictures?

4. I'm running bags on the modified stock front on my 51. Fourth Question: Is anyone running bags on the Jag front end?

Thanks for the help guys. Bill

Mine was removed when I got it, but I ordered parts for a 1985 Jag XJ6 and they were always correct.

2. I was under the impression that the Jag front end was the same fit as the stock 49-54. Flatout, I noticed that you narrowed the width, so my second question is: What is the width of the Jag?

I can't find my original notes for the actual width, but I measured and triple checked the wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface on each one and found the Jag to be 2.5" wider.

3. I have a 235 in my 51. I have AC compressor and alternator on a modified Alan Grove bracket. Third question: Does anyone with the Jag front have a 235 with AC, alternator and power steering that can post some pictures?

I'll attached a picture of mine. It's a Patrick's bracket that I bought through Vintage Air.

4. I'm running bags on the modified stock front on my 51. Fourth Question: Is anyone running bags on the Jag front end?

Thanks for the help guys. Bill

Flatout, That bracket set up looks pretty much like mine. I see from your build thread that you are not running power rack. I was wondering how I would bracket for the power steering.

The XJS is usable up through early 90s, same as the earlier XJs. I have an 89 XJS that I set up for my 53, 210.

I don't know. That's a lot to hang off the front of a 235's stock front pulley and there's not any good mounting holes on the passenger side of the engine block. I know there are aftermarket crank harmonic dampers that have 2 pulley grooves.

Here is one place:

You could look at www.davisspeedequipment.com to see about brackets.
