I have a 39 Master deluxe with 216 engine with acracked block. I have a 58 Chevrolet 235 that I can put it in the 39 Master Deluxe. The 216 has front engine mount. But the 235 has mid engine mount.
So What other engine and transmission mounts do I need? The transmission is the orginal 3 speed. I am wanting to change the driveline and rearend to a more highway friendly setup. Or can I do it in stages like engine first and then driveline,rearend later?
Or should I look for a complete donor vehicle? Or would it be cheaper to go with 5.3 LS overdrive transmission. I do have a 4L60E transmission that a friend gave me but he got it in trade. I don't know what the transmission came out of. But are the numbers if anyone can tell me what year it is (36 98CH GMPT4L60E).
So he is not sure of the condition. The car would be just a cruiser. I just want start and drive with less headaches down the road. I can do all of the work myself. I just have to convince the wife to let me spend the money.

see if you can find on line patricks 235 engine swap it will tell you almost all you need to know about using 235 in earlier models or try a site called H.A.M.B. it is a site where guys discuss what they have done to make stuff work

also to add i put a 56-235 into my 50 car had to tweak a couple of things but got it work if you find the patricks info on how to use a late model 235 it would be very helpful i used the original 50 -216 engine mounting plate had to enlarge the cam hole and it let me use the original front motor mounts thats all i can help you with

The front cover on the 235 should be able to drill for the front mounts. I found the following

replacing a 216 chevy engine with a 235 Check Google. Patrick closed a few years ago.
