Purchased new motor for my 1950 Chevy 3100 found that the shaft size is 5/16" while the collar on the four blade fan is 1/4". Cataloge say product may need some slight modifications to work. Has anyone come across tis problem? How did you correct it? The only small modification I made was drilling bolt holes larger to mount the motor. I did drill the collar out on the fan but destroyed the mounting sleeve holding the collar onto the fan blades and now I'm $%#^ed. Thanks. (hope there's someone in CT World working on origional equipment)
I was able to fix the problem so disreguard.

Used a new 3/8" collar (hole size) and a piece of steel tubing (used in electric lamps to run the cord through) since it was 3/8" outside diameter and drilled inside out to 5/16". Drilled the fan blade base hole out to 3/8". Cut the tubing for the length, about an inch, that needed to go through the collar and fan blade and allowed about a 1/16"+- to stick out above the fan blades base in which I peened this edge out to hold the fan blade to the collar mount (also drilled a hole in the tubing for the collar set screw to go through for securing the fan blades to the motor shaft). Mounted this assembly to the 5/16 shaft of the motor and had a good fit, tested and seemed to work ok.
