Take a valve cover off, bring one lifter on a cylinder to the base circle of the cam and see if you have any clearance at the rocker arm tip.If there's a preload you most likely have hydraulic. Is the car running smoothly? Have a sewing machine sound?

Simply listen for the normal 'clatter' the solid lifters make. Their 'noise' is quite distinctive. The 'frequency' (not hertz, just how often) of the clatter will rise and fall with rpm.

Hydraulic lifters are mostly silent unless 'stuck', or out of adjustment. Typically that's an individual lifter fault; 'clatter' is not a 'normal' noise of the 'system'.
